Following the massive success of 007 First Light, Amazon Game Studios' Jeff Gattis has clarified his recent comments and dropped a major hint about a potential sequel. The game, developed by IO Interactive, has already cemented its place as a top-tier James Bond title since its release a couple of weeks ago.
Critical Acclaim and Sales Success
007 First Light has been hailed as one of the best Bond games ever, receiving positive reviews from both gamers and critics. The game has shipped 3 million copies, exceeding expectations. Earlier, IO Interactive chief Hakan Abrak had hinted at the possibility of a trilogy of 007 games.
Amazon's Role and Clarification
Amazon MGM Studios acquired the franchise license from Eon Productions in 2025, giving it oversight of Bond games for the foreseeable future. In a recent interview with IGN during Summer Game Fest, Gattis addressed speculation that Amazon Game Studios would publish the next Bond game. He stated, "First of all, let me set the record straight for you. I did not confirm that Amazon Game Studios is publishing the next one. Did not say that." He praised IO Interactive as great partners and mentioned visiting them in Copenhagen a couple of months ago.
Positive Signs for a Sequel
Gattis reassured players, saying, "Trust that we're going to be smart about this. It's market appetite. As long as we feel there's a desire for players to have the game, it's safe to say it's going to be made." He concluded the interview with a promising note: "Seems like a sequel should be made." While a follow-up has not been officially greenlit, this is a positive sign for Bond fans eagerly awaiting more adventures.
