Manchester United are set to ramp up their summer transfer activity after securing a Champions League spot under manager Michael Carrick. The club has been linked with a £100 million move for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, while a surprise goalkeeper target has also emerged.
Carrick's Transfer Plans
Following a strong finish to the season, Carrick's side will need to strengthen to compete on multiple fronts. The midfield is a key priority, with an early agreement already reached for Atalanta's Ederson. However, United remain interested in other options, including Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson, who is expected to feature for England at the World Cup.
The 23-year-old had an impressive season despite Forest's relegation battle. Anderson has also attracted attention from Manchester City, with Forest reportedly valuing him at £100 million. United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is said to be ready to meet Anderson's wage demands, which could see his current £100,000-per-week salary increase by 50% at either Manchester club.
Goalkeeper Target
In a separate development, United are considering a move for Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow. The 35-year-old made 22 league appearances last season and is seen as a potential backup to Senne Lammens. With Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana reportedly not in the club's future plans, Darlow could provide experienced cover. He is expected to be available on a free transfer as his Leeds contract expires.
Wolves goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, a homegrown talent who began his career at United, is also on the club's shortlist. The coming weeks will be crucial as Carrick looks to shape his squad for the challenges ahead.
