A 'haunted' Welsh pub with its very own resident spectre is looking for a new owner. The historic Three Pigeons Inn at Graigfechan in Ruthin, Wales, dates back to 1777, but the site has been a drovers' inn since the 12th century.
Historic Background
Legend has it that it was a stopping off point for Owain Glyndwr, the last native Prince of Wales. The name of the pub itself is shrouded in mystery, but many believe it relates to the old Celtic symbols for the 'Three Graces' – honesty, fidelity and loyalty.
Ghostly Encounters
All that history means the obligatory ghost or two – or potentially even three in this case, according to reports. Sightings include an old man sitting in an armchair by the fire, and the mischievous antics of a young teenager. A previous landlord even called in UK-Paranormal to investigate.
Property Details
Now the pub, ghosts and all, can be snapped up after the site was placed on the market with Christie and Co. It has a £675,000 price tag. The site includes a traditional bar as well as a restaurant/dining room. There are also two holiday apartments and a three bedroom cottage.
Business Potential
The agent said: 'The business presents strong potential for growth, with current trading patterns largely reflecting the lifestyle preferences of the existing owners rather than the full commercial capacity of the site.'
'A new operator could unlock additional revenue by extending the currently limited trading hours, particularly during key trading periods, to better capture both local and visitor demand.'
'The property also benefits from a commercial-grade kitchen, installed six years ago, which is currently underutilised. The reduction of the food offering two years ago creates a clear opportunity to reintroduce a food-led proposition, leveraging the well-presented trading areas and existing infrastructure.'
'Overall, the property is well-positioned for turnover growth through focused operational improvements, with the potential to establish itself as a strong destination venue within the area.'
