A well-known UK furniture retailer is preparing to close its doors for good after more than three decades of trading, launching a major closing-down sale this weekend. Deep Valley, located at Caddsdown Industrial Park in Bideford, will cease operations on August 30.
Massive Sale Underway
A 50% discount on all in-store products, including bedroom, dining, living room furniture and accessories, as well as already reduced outlet items, will begin on Saturday, June 13. The business aims to redirect its focus toward its expanding trade operations.
Statement from Management
General manager Steve Parker commented: “This has not been an easy decision. Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure of getting to know so many customers through the Bideford store, helping them choose furniture and pieces for their homes.”
He added: “Like many independent retailers, changes in customer spending, shopping habits and the wider economic climate have made operating the store increasingly challenging. At the same time, demand from our trade customers continues to grow and we have made the decision to concentrate our time and resources on supporting that part of the business from this point forward.”
Job Losses Confirmed
The company, which serves as the retail showroom for Devonshire Living, confirmed that the closure will result in a number of job losses, although the exact number has not yet been disclosed.
Industry Context
Last week, another award-winning UK furniture brand collapsed into liquidation with debts exceeding £1.4 million. Pure White Lines Ltd., founded in 2012, entered creditors’ voluntary liquidation on June 1. Liquidation is the formal legal process through which a company is wound up and dissolved, typically involving the sale of assets to repay creditors and shareholders.
