Dad's Sainsbury's Scanner Hack Saves Over £60

A father from Preston, Lancashire, has saved more than £60 on his grocery shop at Sainsbury's by using a simple scanner trick that other shoppers are now copying.

Elliot Jeory, 39, shared a video on social media showing how he found secret markdowns on chocolate bars. He scanned Aero mint bars marked at £2.50, but the self-scanner revealed they cost just 50p each. He bought 12, saving £24. Similarly, KitKats priced at £2.20 scanned at 22p, so he bought 20, saving £39.60. In total, he saved £63.60.

Jeory said: 'That's right, I'm going to get a box of them as well. And the funny thing is I don't even eat chocolate – I'll be giving most of this away, but it is worth it.'

In another video, he highlighted further bargains, including camembert, Baileys pouring cream, and fig brandy cream for just 1p each, as well as custard creams for 7p and chocolate oranges for 15p. He advised shoppers to use a scanner because many prices had not been updated on shelves.

Shoppers have responded enthusiastically, with one saying they got 24 salted caramel profiteroles for 2p, and another claiming they bought £20 orchids for 1p.
