Burger King Cheaper Than McDonald's in UK Price War

In a recent comparison of fast-food giants, Burger King has emerged as the cheaper option in a UK price war, with its menu items priced lower than McDonald's across the board. The analysis, based on visits to branches in Balham, South London, found that Burger King's double cheeseburger costs £1.29, compared to £1.49 at McDonald's, while a chicken sandwich is 99p at both chains, but Burger King offers a larger portion for the same price.

Burger King also undercuts McDonald's on fries, with small portions at 89p versus 99p, and milkshakes at £1.49 compared to £1.59. The biggest savings come on meal deals, with a Whopper meal at Burger King costing £4.49, while a Big Mac meal at McDonald's is £4.89. The price gap is significant for families, with a children's meal at Burger King priced at £2.29, compared to £2.39 at McDonald's.

However, the review noted that McDonald's offers a wider variety of items, including salads and apple pies, which were praised as 'a revelation' for their crunchy exterior and fragrant apple and cinnamon filling. Burger King's menu is more focused on burgers and fries, but its staff were described as 'sweet' and the restaurant as 'bright and pristine', in contrast to McDonald's, where tables were dirty and staff seemed 'dejected'.

Both chains offer free Wi-Fi, but neither has a visible loyalty scheme. The comparison highlights that while Burger King wins on price and cleanliness, McDonald's offers a broader menu and a more convenient location on a busy high street. Customers are encouraged to share their own experiences to help identify trends in the ongoing burger battle.
