UK Gambling Industry Reaches £4.5bn GGY in Q4 2025

The UK gambling industry generated a gross gambling yield (GGY) of £4.5 billion in the fourth quarter of 2025, representing a 2.27% increase from the £4.4 billion recorded in the same period of 2024, according to new data from the Gambling Commission.

Quarterly Performance

The quarterly statistics released by the Gambling Commission reveal that overall GGY reached £4.5 billion in revenue between October, November, and December 2025. This figure encompasses all lotteries as well as both remote and non-remote casino, bingo, and betting activities.

Excluding lotteries, GGY amounted to £3.3 billion. Within this total, remote casino, betting, and bingo (RCBB) accounted for £2.12 billion in GGY. Remote casino alone contributed £1.49 billion, which is 70% of the total RCBB figure.

Physical Locations

Physical locations such as betting shops, bingo halls, casinos, and arcades generated £1.2 billion in GGY. Other non-remote betting produced £613 million, representing 48.2% of total non-remote GGY.

Premises and Betting Shops

The total number of premises in the UK dropped by 106 since September 2025, with 8,148 premises still operating across the country. There was a similar decline in the number of betting shops, which fell from 5,782 in September to 5,669.

CAP AI Monitoring

A major announcement following the Gambling Commission’s latest quarterly report was the intention to begin using the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP)’s AI monitoring system to review advertisements and report those that are unsuitable for people under 18.

CAP’s latest notice warned operators: “If we identify ads that break the rules, we will require you to amend or remove the ad immediately and, if you fail to comply, we will impose sanctions, which may include referral to the platform hosting the ad and/or the Gambling Commission.”
