Multi-Millionaire Block Bidder Lists Reality Show Home for Premium Rent

Multi-millionaire investor Danny Wallis has revealed the substantial weekly rental price he is demanding for his latest acquisition from the reality television series The Block. Wallis, whose net worth is reported to be approximately $120 million, purchased the Daylesford residence that was constructed during the 2025 season by best friends and contestants Mat Johnson and Robby Lippett.

Luxury Property with a Hefty Price Tag

The stunning home is now available on the rental market, with Wallis asking a formidable $2,500 per week for the privilege of residing in a property featured on the popular renovation show. This represents a significant commitment for prospective tenants, as the property is being offered under a two-year, fixed-term lease agreement. The home comes fully furnished, though the listing includes a caveat noting that the actual furniture may differ from what is shown in promotional materials.

According to PropTrack data, Wallis's asking price is a substantial $1,972 above the median rental price for properties in the Daylesford region, highlighting the premium attached to this reality television asset.

Premium Features and Disappointing Auction Result

The property boasts numerous high-end features, including a stunning underground wine cellar that many viewers believed would secure victory for Johnson and Lippett in the competition. It also features herringbone-patterned oak floors throughout the open-plan living and dining areas, which are accentuated by cathedral ceilings and skylights.

The well-appointed kitchen includes a butler's pantry and integrated NEFF appliances, such as four ovens. A lavish main bedroom comes complete with an extensive dressing room featuring a walk-in wardrobe and an ensuite bathroom with a freestanding bath. The guest bedroom also has an ensuite, while two additional bedrooms are equipped with custom-made wardrobes. The walls are adorned with artworks by Jade Torres and several Bromley pieces.

Despite these luxurious amenities, Johnson and Lippett were left disappointed after their property sold for $3.09 million at the show's final auction, netting them a profit of just $109,999. Speaking to 9Entertainment, the pair expressed their frustration, with Mat Johnson stating, "It's not great, but it is what it is... It's not about the money... but it's about the money. Just to cover my costs for not being in the business or the work I said no to, it wouldn't even cover that." They split the winnings equally, each receiving just under $55,000.

Broader Context of The Block 2025 Season

Only three of the five houses from the 2025 season have been sold, with properties belonging to Han Thetford and Can Wood, as well as Emma and Ben Cox, still on the market with price guides around $3 million. In contrast, Brit and Taz Etto took top honours, with their home selling for $3.41 million and netting them a $520,000 profit.

Danny Wallis is no stranger to The Block, having purchased 12 properties from the show since 2012, reportedly spending a total of $45.9 million to build his portfolio. Despite the auction outcome, Johnson and Lippett remained optimistic, emphasizing the value of their experiences on the Channel Nine renovation show. Robby Lippett remarked, "It sucks. It's a lot of hard work that we put in, but it's a beautiful house and I'm sure the buyer and all his guests are going to enjoy it a lot." Mat Johnson added, "We met some beautiful best mates for a long time. This isn't the end of us. Watch out Australia."
