Alec Baldwin Relists Hamptons Mansion for $21M Amid Rust Fallout
Alec Baldwin's $21M Hamptons mansion back on market

Alec Baldwin has placed his expansive Hamptons estate back on the market, this time with an asking price of $21 million. The dramatic property saga continues for the actor, whose attempts to sell the home have unfolded against the backdrop of both personal milestones and ongoing legal controversies.

A Property Steeped in History and Controversy

The seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom mansion sits on a 10-acre estate in Amagansett, New York, and boasts a pool, covered balconies, and a spa. Baldwin first acquired the property, parts of which date back to 1740, in 1996 for $1.75 million. Its allure is legendary; in the 2000s, actress Kristin Davis reportedly confessed to co-star Sarah Jessica Parker that she was hesitant to end her relationship with Baldwin because of his "incredible house in Amagansett."

The sales journey has been volatile. Baldwin initially listed the home in 2022 for $29 million. By January 2024, he had reduced the price to nearly $19 million and even starred in a promotional video, stating he was "always happiest" there. After failing to secure a buyer, he withdrew the listing in the summer of 2024, only to relist it now for $2 million more than its price point last year.

A Family Home Featured in Reality TV

The 10,000-square-foot estate has been a central setting for Baldwin's family life with his wife, Hilaria, and their seven young children. It features prominently in their reality series, The Baldwins. The couple have made significant additions to the original structure. The home's interior, including a much-discussed living room painting of Hilaria inspired by a paparazzi shot at a grocery store, was showcased in a New York Times photo profile, where Hilaria expressed embarrassment over the oversized portrait.

The property's relisting follows Baldwin's purchase of a historic 50-acre farm in Vermont for $1.7 million, suggesting a shift away from the Hamptons compound.

The Shadow of the Rust Shooting

Baldwin's real estate decisions have been inextricably linked to the fallout from the tragic Rust shooting in October 2021, where cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed. He first put the Hamptons mansion on the market in September 2022, less than a year after the incident.

While Baldwin strenuously denied pulling the trigger and his charge of involuntary manslaughter was dismissed in 2023, the controversy undoubtedly impacted the property's marketability. Armourer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was convicted and sentenced. Baldwin's subsequent civil lawsuit against Santa Fe prosecutors was thrown out in July 2024.

The film Rust was eventually completed after a settlement with Halyna Hutchins' widower, Matthew, and released in 2024 to a polarised critical reception.

As the $21 million listing goes live, the future of Baldwin's Hamptons retreat remains uncertain, its value and appeal now a complex blend of luxury, celebrity, and notoriety.
