Former EastEnders star Bobby Brazier is leaving the UK for the United States. The actor, who played Freddie Slater on the BBC soap, is celebrating his 23rd birthday today, but his life is set to change dramatically as he prepares to move to New Jersey next month.
Bobby revealed his plans in a street-casting video on social media, where a modelling scout approached him in London. When asked if he would be available for a photo shoot, he replied: "I'm actually moving to New York, soon." He clarified that he would be based in New Jersey, saying: "Well, I say New York, New Jersey." The actor did not disclose the reason for his move.
Since leaving EastEnders last year, Bobby has devoted himself to the Hare Krishna movement, a branch of Hinduism. He has spoken openly about how his faith has transformed his outlook on life, bringing him inner peace after the emotional difficulties he faced following the death of his mother, Jade Goody, when he was five.
In an Instagram video, he said: "My relationship with God is absolutely everything that I’m looking for and always have been looking for." He has been a regular at the Hare Krishna temple in Soho, London, and even moved out of his father Jeff Brazier's home in Essex to an apartment near the temple. A family source said: "Bobby's always had a spiritual side, but this is intentional. It's clear he's trying to leave all the fighting and noise behind."
