UK Heatwave: 28 Counties Forecast Over 30C by June 19

The United Kingdom is bracing for a return to heatwave conditions, as high pressure is set to bring above-average temperatures within days. After a brief respite of cooler weather, the mercury is expected to soar once again, with forecasts predicting up to 34 degrees Celsius in some areas.

Temperature Surge Across Central and Southern England

According to projections from WXCharts, temperatures will gradually rise over the next week, exceeding 30 degrees Celsius across a vast swath of central and southern England. By Friday, June 19, the heatwave will be in full swing, with conditions remaining hot into the following week. Weather maps for Monday, June 22, show most of the South-east hovering around 28 degrees Celsius, with settled and mild conditions persisting.

Met Office Long-Range Forecast

The Met Office released its three-month outlook on June 1, indicating a greater-than-usual chance of hot weather across the country in June, July, and August. The long-range forecast for June 13 to June 22 predicts a transition to more settled weather, with high pressure exerting an increasing influence. A Met Office spokesperson stated: "With the build of pressure will come an increase in temperatures, with the potential for very warm or hot conditions to be established by mid-month, especially across parts of England and Wales. High pressure is favoured to remain close to the UK towards the end of this period, bringing widely settled conditions and often above average temperatures."
