Newcastle star Lewis Hall has seen his working relationship with Eddie Howe break down and is ready to leave St James' Park, with Manchester United reportedly keen on the left-back.
Relationship breakdown
According to reports, the 21-year-old is frustrated with Howe, blaming his manager for missing out on the England squad for the World Cup. Hall was switched to right-back shortly before Thomas Tuchel named his squad, and he felt his game time and positions did not aid his World Cup ambitions in the final weeks of the season.
Hall was substituted at half-time during the 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth in April and then started the next two games against Arsenal and Brighton on the bench. The Sun reports that Hall was involved in a row with Howe, and some at Newcastle fear their working relationship has come to an end.
Howe's stance
Howe previously claimed: "My wish is for all the players who want to go, to go. The World Cup and representing their countries is a huge moment for them so my first thought is to them."
Manchester United interest
The former Chelsea youngster would be open to joining Manchester United, who are in the market for a long-term left-back with Luke Shaw out of contract next year.
Newcastle's position
Newcastle deny there has been a falling out between Hall and Howe, and the left-back is under contract at St James' Park until 2029. The Magpies have already sold Anthony Gordon to Barcelona for £70 million, easing their financial fears. While Newcastle boast a number of sellable assets, including Hall, Sandro Tonali, and Bruno Guimaraes, the club would rather keep them than cash in.
The decision to sell Alexander Isak late last summer had a lasting impact on their season, and Newcastle are keen to avoid a repeat.
