Retired IT Consultant Wins £1 Million on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

Roman Dubowski, a retired IT analyst from Stockport, has become the seventh contestant to win £1 million on ITV's Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?. He credits a book by Trevor Montague and advice from host Jeremy Clarkson for his success.

Dubowski answered questions on Saturn's rings, sea creatures, and the Black Death, only stumbling once when he forgot the main ingredient of mayonnaise and used the 'Ask the Audience' lifeline. He recommends the book 'A to Z of Everything: A Compendium of General Knowledge' by Trevor Montague to prospective contestants.

He also followed Clarkson's advice to use the 50/50 lifeline only when he had an inkling of the correct answer, which he did on the final question. Dubowski praised Clarkson's hosting, despite past criticism of the 'Ask the Host' lifeline.

Dubowski applied twice before being selected. He plans to use his winnings for travel, possibly to South America or New Zealand, and to buy a new house with a driveway. He also intends to compete again on BBC Radio 4's Brain of Britain.
