Sainsbury's and Argos Recall Toys Over Serious Choking Risk

Sainsbury's and Argos have issued an urgent recall for the 'Jungle Heads and Tails' game due to a serious choking hazard. The recall was announced before Christmas after it was discovered that a small cardboard disc, which should have been removed during manufacturing, remains in some sets.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) stated that the product presents a serious risk of choking, as small parts are easily accessible. The disc, located on an elephant's nose, is a small part that poses a hazard to young children, particularly those under 36 months, who tend to explore objects by placing them in their mouths.

The game, made in China by Orchard Toys, does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011. The OPSS has been informed, and the company is offering refunds or replacements via its website. Customers are advised to stop using the product immediately and keep it out of reach of children.

Sainsbury's urged customers to visit the manufacturer's website to arrange a replacement, credit voucher, or refund. They advised removing and retaining the box flap with the batch code and disposing of the product, or returning it to the store for a full refund. Argos issued a similar recall notice for the affected batch, labelled SP/001639/058/17.03.25.

Orchard Toys confirmed that the recall only applies to this specific batch and not to other Jungle Heads & Tails batches or any other products. Customers with the affected product are asked to remove the box flap with the batch code and dispose of the game, then return the flap via freepost to receive a £20 voucher or a £9.50 refund.
