Scotland fans were heard jeering outside Boston Stadium ahead of the national team's opening World Cup fixture against Haiti. The Tartan Army turned up in large numbers, but hundreds of frustrated supporters were stuck outside the venue.
Chaotic Scenes Before Kickoff
Footage shows a massive queue of fans waiting to enter the stadium about an hour before the match began. Many seats inside remained empty as the crowd grew restless. The video pans over the stationary line, ending with fans chanting, "You don't know what you're doing."
Fan Festivities in Boston
Earlier in the day, around 250 supporters enjoyed a three-hour party boat cruise with an open bar, starting at 11 a.m. local time. Pubs were packed with Scots singing songs, and a Boston policeman even performed a keepy-uppy routine for the crowd. Approximately 800 fans hired local school buses to take them to the match, hanging out of windows and singing, "Cheerio, cheerio, cheerio!"
Famous Faces Spotted
Notable figures in Boston included First Minister John Swinney, actors Richard Gadd, Gerard Butler, and Martin Compston. Swinney was welcomed by a piper at a Scottish Night dinner and gala event at the Royale.
