Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving after a teenage girl was rushed to hospital in critical condition following an incident in Essex.
Incident at Chalkwell Park
Essex Police were called to the area of Chalkwell Park in Southend at around 12:30 am on Saturday, June 13. Upon arrival, officers found the girl had sustained significant injuries. The incident involved a small articulated loading vehicle that was reportedly taken without authorization by a group.
The girl is believed to have been involved in an incident with the vehicle, resulting in severe injuries. Paramedics transported her to the hospital, where she remains in critical condition. Her family has been informed and is receiving support.
Arrests Made
As part of the investigation, police arrested an 18-year-old man from Westcliff and a 17-year-old boy from Leigh-on-Sea. Both are currently in custody on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
A cordon remains in place at the scene as officers continue their inquiries.
Appeal for Witnesses
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information or footage to come forward. An Essex Police spokesperson said: "We know there were a large number of young people in the area at the time, and we believe some may have witnessed what happened. We urgently need to hear from anyone with information or footage."
