Tottenham Star's Tunnel Outburst Sparks Fan Backlash
Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro has faced significant criticism from supporters following his visible frustration with young teammate Lucas Bergvall after Saturday night's disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Fulham. The incident occurred immediately after the final whistle, with Porro appearing to vent his anger at the 19-year-old Swede before storming down the tunnel without acknowledging the home fans.
Defeat and Discontent at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Spurs delivered a lacklustre performance against their struggling London rivals, conceding two goals within the opening six minutes. Fulham's Kenny Tete and Harry Wilson both found the net early, putting Tottenham in a difficult position from which they never recovered. The team was loudly booed by sections of the home support at full-time, reflecting growing discontent with their dismal home form.
Manager Thomas Frank described the situation as "a mountain to climb" after such an early setback. He particularly criticised fans who booed goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario after his mistake contributed to Fulham's second goal, calling the reaction "absolutely unacceptable" and questioning whether those supporters could be "true Tottenham fans."
The Porro-Bergvall Incident Explained
Eyewitness footage and social media posts captured the moment Porro confronted Bergvall near the tunnel entrance. The Spanish full-back appeared to gesture angrily at the young midfielder before storming away. Crucially, Porro removed his shirt and headed straight down the tunnel without applauding the supporters, while Bergvall had been acknowledging the crowd.
This contrast in behaviour prompted speculation that Porro's anger stemmed from Bergvall's decision to applaud the fans despite the booing and disappointing result. Multiple supporters took to social media platform X to express their disapproval of Porro's actions, with one describing the behaviour as "disgusting" and another calling him a "coward" for targeting a younger player who "puts in more effort than experienced pros."
The defeat extends Tottenham's worrying home record, with the club having won just one, drawn two, and lost four of their home matches this season - the second-worst record in the league. They've now lost 10 home league games in 2025, matching previous joint records set in 1993 and 2004.
