Ryan Reynolds Unveils Inter Bogotá's New Kit After Major Football Club Rebrand
Ryan Reynolds reveals Inter Bogotá shirt after club rebrand

Hollywood actor and football club owner Ryan Reynolds has personally unveiled the fresh new kit for his latest sporting venture, following a dramatic and comprehensive rebrand of a Colombian football team.

A Star-Studded Reveal for a New Identity

Reynolds, who co-owns Wrexham AFC with Rob McElhenney, took to social media to promote the transformed club. In a video posted on Instagram, he was seen unboxing a package before pulling on the newly designed white-and-gold shirt. This kit marks the official visual break from the old La Equidad branding, featuring a completely redesigned crest.

The club, based in Bogotá, was acquired in January 2025 by the Tylis-Porter Group in a deal valued between £11 million and £15 million. Reynolds and McElhenney are high-profile investors in the group, which also counts celebrities like Eva Longoria, Kate Upton, and baseball star Justin Verlander among its backers. The group also holds a stake in Mexican side Club Necaxa.

Ambitious Plans On and Off the Pitch

In December, the club officially adopted its new name, Internacional de Bogotá (Inter Bogotá), as part of a sweeping strategy to modernise its image and expand its global footprint. The changes have been profound and extend far beyond just the badge and name.

Long-time head coach Alexis García was dismissed and replaced by Argentine Ricardo Valiño, who leads a new international coaching team. Club president Nicolás Maya told Forbes that work is actively underway to assemble a more experienced squad, with increased investment also planned for the women's team.

Maya admitted that sporting results have been lacking during this transition period but insisted significant progress has been made behind the scenes in areas like sales, logistics, and youth development. He stated the club now "has a very different face than La Equidad was a year ago".

Building a Global City Brand

The ambitions for Inter Bogotá stretch into the realm of city diplomacy and branding. Maya revealed that, with backing from the mayor's office, the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, and Invest in Bogotá, the club aims to become "the first sports club in Bogotá to have a city brand to represent it around the world".

This forms part of a major internal restructuring designed to professionalise operations and build a sustainable business model, mirroring approaches used at the group's other clubs. Inter Bogotá is now preparing for its first official season under the new identity in 2026.

Their debut match is slated to be against América at the iconic Pascual Guerrero Stadium in Cali, though final fixture details for the Liga BetPlay Dimayor are pending confirmation.

Meanwhile, Reynolds was also in the headlines for his involvement with Wrexham. He was in attendance, along with his mother Tammy, as the Welsh club secured a famous FA Cup third-round victory over Premier League Nottingham Forest after extra time and penalties. Wrexham's next challenge in the competition will be a home tie against Championship rivals Ipswich Town.
