Oscar Reveals Trophy Collection After Heart Condition Retirement
Oscar Shows Trophy Collection After Heart Condition Retirement

Former Chelsea midfielder Oscar has displayed his impressive collection of trophies and honours following his retirement last month. The 34-year-old Brazilian decided to end his playing career after collapsing during a training session with Sao Paulo at the end of last year.

Health Scare Led to Retirement

Oscar was diagnosed with vasovagal syncope, a condition characterised by a sudden drop in blood pressure and heart rate that can cause fainting. While not life-threatening when managed properly, the condition can be controlled with medication or a minor procedure to cauterise the node responsible for these drops. This health scare prompted his decision to retire from professional football.

A Trophy-Laden Career

Oscar shared a photograph on Instagram showcasing the remarkable array of silverware he accumulated throughout his career. The attacking midfielder won two Premier League titles with Chelsea, along with the League Cup and the Europa League during his five seasons at Stamford Bridge. He also enjoyed success in China, spending eight years with Shanghai Port, where he claimed three Chinese Super League titles, an FA Cup, and a Chinese Super Cup. On the international stage, Oscar won the FIFA Confederations Cup with Brazil in 2013 and was part of the silver medal-winning squad at the London 2012 Olympic Games. At youth level, he lifted the Under-20 World Cup and the South American Youth Championship in 2011.

Reflections on a Journey

In his Instagram post, Oscar wrote: "Between dreams and achievements, this photo sums up much more than titles; it sums up a journey. Each trophy there carries hours of training, discipline, sacrifices, and also moments of overcoming obstacles that no one saw. It started with a simple dream, a ball at your feet, and the desire to go further. Over time, opportunities, challenges, and victories came, transforming effort into history. Today, looking at all this, it's not just about winning, it's about everything that had to be lived to get here. Thank you, God, for everything."

Alongside replica trophies, Oscar also displayed personal awards and shirts received from Lionel Messi and Neymar. His former Chelsea captain John Terry reacted with the comment "legend" on the post. Oscar scored 38 goals in 203 matches for Chelsea between 2012 and 2016, and was one of the highest-profile players to move to the Chinese Super League during its spending boom, reportedly earning around £150 million.
