Chelsea Football Club's star defender Wesley Fofana has been slapped with a driving ban after a series of high-speed offences in his powerful £200,000 Lamborghini Urus that saw him racing at more than double the speed limit.

The 23-year-old French international was found to have committed four separate speeding violations within just months, with the most serious incident occurring on the A40 in Acton, West London. Court documents reveal Fofana was clocked driving at an astonishing 102mph in a clearly marked 50mph zone - a speed that magistrates described as "excessive and dangerous."

Investigators discovered a concerning pattern of behaviour from the Premier League star:
- February 13, 2023: 102mph in 50mph zone on A40
- March 2, 2023: 69mph in 40mph zone on A217
- March 25, 2023: 48mph in 30mph zone in Reigate
- April 17, 2023: 54mph in 40mph zone in Reigate
Westminster Magistrates' Court heard how Fofana's luxury Lamborghini Urus - capable of reaching 190mph - was repeatedly pushed beyond legal limits on London's busy roads.
Court Consequences and Chelsea's Response
Magistrates delivered a stern punishment, banning the £200,000-per-week defender from driving for six months and imposing a £1,863 fine. The court emphasised that professional athletes have a responsibility to set better examples for their young fans.
Chelsea FC has remained tight-lipped about the incident, with club officials declining to comment on their player's motoring offences. The timing is particularly awkward for the Blues as Fofana continues his recovery from a serious ACL injury that has kept him sidelined for the entire season.
Footballer's Mitigating Circumstances
Fofana's legal team argued that the player had been travelling to medical appointments during some of the incidents, though this failed to convince magistrates of the necessity for such excessive speeds.
