Carragher: Slot has one week to save Liverpool job

Liverpool manager Arne Slot is under immense pressure, with club legend Jamie Carragher declaring the Dutchman has just one week to save his job at Anfield.

The Pressure Mounts at Anfield

Former defender Jamie Carragher has delivered a stark warning, stating that Arne Slot cannot afford another defeat in the coming days. This crisis comes a mere six months after Slot led the team to a Premier League title triumph.

However, the mood has soured dramatically. The Reds are in the midst of their worst run of form in over 70 years, having suffered nine defeats in their last 12 matches across all competitions. This shocking drop in performance has left Slot fighting for his future at the club.

Carragher's Ultimatum

Writing in his column for The Telegraph, Carragher laid out the specific challenge facing the manager. He believes Liverpool must take at least seven points from their next three fixtures.

This crucial run includes a trip to West Ham this Sunday, followed by games against newly promoted sides Sunderland and Leeds. Carragher warned that anything less than seven points would leave Slot's position as "untenable".

"No matter how much goodwill the manager has, Liverpool Football Club cannot sustain the drop in standards witnessed over the past three months," Carragher wrote. He added, "Liverpool do not willingly sack coaches, especially those who bring great success."

Slot's Defiant Stance

Despite the intense speculation, Arne Slot remained defiant when speaking ahead of the West Ham match. He revealed he is still having the "same conversations" with the club's hierarchy and is determined to fight on.

Slot acknowledged the questions about his position but emphasised his and the players' commitment. "We fight on, we try to improve," said Slot. "It is about doing what this club is about, it is keeping fighting and no matter how difficult it is we have to fight together."

The manager also expressed a desire for his team to get their just rewards, adding, "But it would also be nice if we would reward ourselves in the moments we play well." The next week will be decisive in determining whether he gets that chance.
