Brentford's Andrews Frustrated as Wolves Stage Comeback Draw
Brentford Boss Andrews Bemoans Game Management in Wolves Draw

Brentford manager Keith Andrews voiced significant frustration after his team surrendered a commanding two-goal advantage to settle for a 2-2 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers at home. The result proved a costly setback for the Bees' aspirations of securing European football next season.

Dramatic Collapse After Strong Start

Igor Thiago, fresh from receiving his first call-up to the Brazilian national team, appeared to have set Brentford on course for a vital victory. He netted their second goal after Michael Kayode's opener, establishing a seemingly comfortable 2-0 lead against the Premier League's bottom club.

However, Wolves displayed remarkable resilience. Adam Armstrong reduced the deficit before the interval, setting the stage for a frantic second half. Tolu Arokodare completed the comeback by hauling Wolves level, and the visitors came agonisingly close to snatching all three points when Arokodare's powerful header cannoned off the crossbar in the closing stages.

Andrews Criticises Second-Half Performance

"Very frustrating," admitted Andrews in his post-match assessment. "We need to manage the game better, we need to perform better in the second half, to manage momentum and deal with how the game flows. The disappointing thing is we didn't perform well in the second half. We didn't produce the levels we normally do."

The dropped points were particularly galling given the league context. A win would have propelled Brentford to within a single point of sixth-placed Chelsea and just two points behind Liverpool in fifth, significantly boosting their European qualification chase.

Despite the disappointment, Andrews acknowledged the positive position his team remains in. "The fact I'm getting asked questions like that is really nice, with eight games to go," he added, referencing the European race. "Our destiny is very much on us. What do we want to do? Push hard? Because I do."

Thiago's Milestone Overshadowed

The match should have been a celebration for Igor Thiago, who marked his international recognition with his 19th Premier League goal of a prolific campaign. Andrews expressed pride in the striker's journey. "I'm really happy for him, really proud," he said. "I know a lot about his journey to get to Europe and the Premier League... When he pulls on that iconic jersey it will be a special moment."

Wolves Show Fighting Spirit

For Wolves manager Rob Edwards, the draw represented another step in his team's revitalisation, though he admitted to a "tinge of disappointment" at not securing a first away win of the season.

"It's hard to say when you've been two down but I thought we could have got all three points today," Edwards stated. "Full credit to the boys for showing that fight. It's better to show fight and quality rather than just giving up and that's why the supporters were on their feet at the end."

Wolves now face an unusual 25-day break until their next Premier League fixture, an away trip to West Ham, due to peculiar scheduling. "It's a really strange situation but we've got to make the best of it," Edwards concluded, aiming to maintain his side's improved momentum after securing a valuable point from a difficult position.
