Liverpool Boss Arne Slot Retains Backing Despite Nine Defeats in 12 Games
Arne Slot safe at Liverpool despite catastrophic run of form

Liverpool manager Arne Slot continues to have the full support of the club's hierarchy, despite presiding over a catastrophic run of form that has seen the team lose nine of their last twelve fixtures.

A Bruising Week at Anfield

The pressure on the Dutch coach intensified this week after two humiliating home defeats. First, the Premier League champions suffered a 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest, which was followed by an even more damaging 4-1 defeat to Dutch league leaders PSV Eindhoven at Anfield.

The atmosphere turned sour as the full-time whistle blew against PSV, with the stadium showing large swathes of empty seats and audible boos from the remaining supporters. The visiting PSV fans, rivals of Slot's former club Feyenoord, added to the misery by openly mocking the beleaguered coach.

Inside the Dressing Room: Trust Remains

Despite the growing discontent, sources close to both Liverpool and Arne Slot himself have confirmed to Daily Mail Sport that his position as head coach is not under immediate threat. This support is reported to have remained steadfast even after the dismal PSV result.

Speaking after the match, Slot addressed the speculation head-on. "I am feeling safe," he stated. "I am OK, I have got a lot of support from above." He acknowledged the normalcy of questions being asked during such a poor run but emphasised his regular, trust-filled conversations with the club's decision-makers.

"We do have those conversations but they do not call me every single minute to tell me that they still trust me," Slot explained, "but we do have the normal conversations and in those I feel the trust."

The Road Ahead: A Must-Win London Clash

The squad is now facing a critical test. After a day off on Friday, the team will undergo recovery on Thursday and train on Saturday before travelling to London.

Their next challenge is a Premier League clash against West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday. The fixture has now become a must-win encounter for Slot, a task made tougher by the fact that Nuno Espirito Santo's West Ham have won two and drawn one of their last three games.

All eyes will be on the manager when he faces the media at 3pm on Thursday, where he is expected to confront further intense questioning about his future and his plan to reverse the team's fortunes.
