Influencer Gives Trump a Tesla, a Rolex … and a Campaign Finance Violation?

Video game streamer Adin Ross has given Donald Trump a Tesla Cybertruck and a Rolex watch during a live-streamed interview, potentially breaching campaign finance laws. The gifts, worth tens of thousands of dollars, far exceed the $3,300 limit on individual contributions to political candidates.

Trump’s campaign has stated it will seek guidance from the Federal Election Commission on how to handle the gifts. Ross, 23, has not publicly commented on the legal implications. He rose to fame on Twitch before being banned for homophobic and racist comments, and now streams on Kick, where he hosted Trump for 80 minutes on Monday.

During the stream, Trump admired the Cybertruck, saying, “Wow! That’s an Elon,” and called it “incredible” and “beautiful”. The car featured a photo of Trump with his fist raised after the assassination attempt on 13 July. Trump also praised rapper Ye, formerly Kanye West, as “a really nice guy” despite Ye’s history of antisemitic comments.

The interview is part of Trump’s strategy to reach young male voters through fringe influencers. He has recently appeared with Jake Paul and Logan Paul, and his running mate JD Vance has also engaged with controversial online personalities.
