Coronation Street fans are left puzzled after Jodie Ramsey, played by Olivia Frances Brown, suddenly vanished from the cobbles following the soap's much-hyped Murder Week. The character, who arrived earlier this year during a crossover with Emmerdale, was notably absent from Tuesday night's episode, sparking speculation about her fate.
Jodie's Mysterious Disappearance
Jodie first appeared tied up in the back of a van during the ITV soap's crossover event. As the show prepared for Murder Week, fans wondered if she would be killed off, as she was named as a potential victim in a flashforward. However, after Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) was confirmed dead, Jodie seemingly survived the episode. But her past began to unravel. Upon arrival, Shona Platt immediately recognized her as her long-lost sister, though Shona had never mentioned her during her decade on the street. Jodie moved into number eight, pretending to help while Shona and David cared for their premature daughter Harper. Yet Jodie exhibited odd behaviour: stealing from neighbours, trying to pass herself off as Harper's mother, and being sought by two men for a memory stick. She attempted to seduce David, and when rejected, knocked her sister-in-law Sarah unconscious before fleeing into the night.
Blood Evidence and Fan Theories
Since then, Jodie has not been seen. As the murder investigation into Theo's death unfolded, DC Kit Green visited number eight to inform David and Shona that Jodie's blood had been found. He stated, "We're working on the theory that whoever hit Sarah has taken Jodie. Shona, listen, I promise I will do everything I can to find her." Fans immediately began speculating. One wrote on X: "What has happened to Jodie?" Another asked: "Where did Jodie go to?" Some suggested she might have returned to Yorkshire, where Emmerdale is set. A Reddit user commented: "Not that she was ever that important in the line up for murder week... but in tonight's episode Jodie was notably absent after bopping Sarah on the head and running off. As a non-regular Emmerdale viewer, I'd be very confused... do we think she's headed off back to Yorkshire?" Another fan supported this, saying: "Wouldn't it be amazing that after all the CorrieDale hoopla, a connection is properly made with Emmerdale. Jodie appears in the village looking for Graham." However, a third disagreed: "Doubtful she's got zero ties to anyone in the village other than Graham who was tasked with delivering her to 'a bad man'."
Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
