MAFS Australia Star Refuses 'Hell' Task

The hit reality series Married At First Sight Australia is nearing its end for British viewers on E4, yet the controversy continues unabated. The remaining couples recently participated in the final commitment ceremony, where one duo chose to call it quits just days before the experiment wraps up.

But that wasn't the only drama, as additional tensions surfaced for other pairs who believed their relationships were strengthening. The experts were even compelled to intervene after some particularly harsh remarks came to light, reports OK!.

Audiences were braced for even more fireworks in Tuesday's episode (May 5) as the couples faced an unforeseen task. However, not before fans witnessed the aftermath of the commitment ceremonies and former rivals Bec and Gia forming an unexpected alliance.

Alissa repeatedly cut David off whenever she told him he needs to speak up, before declaring multiple times she 'needs a minute'. This was followed by Gia's surprising new ally Bec telling her during an afternoon drinking session: 'Love you. F*** these men, man.' Gia responds: 'Literally, f*** 'em.'

They proceeded to hurl further insults about their husbands, including remarks about their physical features and likening one to a frog while claiming the other has a pointy nose and concurring they're both 'duds'. Bec proclaims: 'We may have had beef in the past but when it comes down to it women need to support women.' Notably, she didn't address her own previous remarks directed at fellow female participants.

With Scott in the dark about his wife's whereabouts, the timing couldn't be more perfect for the next challenge facing the couples. They're all divided into separate groups for a Girls and Boys Day – but there's a twist, as special guests will be joining them.

Expert John reveals: 'As experts we are always looking to put them to the ultimate test and this might be our most radical change yet. We are removing the element of choice from the final test.' He continues: 'During the matchmaking process, there was more than one person with whom our participants were compatible with. It's the ultimate test of trust and security.' Adding further intrigue, he asks: 'Will they be respectful of their partner? Or do they lean in and cross a line?'

In essence, each participant heads out for lunch with an alternative match the experts had originally considered pairing them with. Reactions are mixed – take Alissa, who boasts: 'David will be sh*****g his pants knowing I'm out on a date. You're very different to my husband. I get a bit bored. I'm uncertain. I'm seventy percent.'

Meanwhile, David and Scott appear reluctant to engage. David confessed he didn't fancy being there, with Scott echoing the sentiment, admitting he felt queasy about the whole ordeal. They ultimately invented reasons to escape before taking refuge in the loos until the coast was clear. Filip at least engaged in courteous chat before making an early exit, ensuring everyone understood it was purely platonic.

Danny lambasted David and Scott, displaying his historical ignorance with the peculiar claim: 'Fifty years ago men used to die in trenches. And now they're hiding in toilets? We all stand and fight together like men, or we die together like men.' At one stage, he also instructed someone else's alternative match to 'stop touching' him, worried his wife might witness it – though he appeared to relish much of the evening.

Elsewhere, Gia received the phone number of her alternative match, who declared he could wait a year for her. She informed him it would merely be a week.

Viewers were quick to share their thoughts on the unfolding chaos. One declared this was the 'final test from hell' while another insisted: 'This is brutal.' One fan confessed: 'I kind of feel like that gif of Elmo in the pits of hell right now because I am here for the drama despite it being bad for my soul.' Another observed: 'Scott already knows Gia can't be trusted with other men and is falling apart.' Someone else responded: 'There's absolutely no science involved in getting them to meet other potential dates.'

Married At First Sight Australia continues tomorrow night at 7.30pm on E4 and streaming on Channel 4.
