Model and podcaster Vogue Williams has offered a candid glimpse into the realities of family vacations, revealing amusing conflicts with her children while traveling. The 40-year-old, married to influencer Spencer Matthews, 37, detailed these experiences on her podcast, highlighting the challenges of keeping three young kids—Theodore, seven, Gigi, five, and Otto, three—happy and safe during their getaway.
Sun Protection Sparks 'Bikini Wars'
In a recent episode of the podcast 'My Therapist Ghosted Me,' which she co-hosts with friend Joanne McNally, Vogue Williams recounted a recurring battle with her daughter Gigi over swimwear during their holiday in Saint Barthélemy, commonly known as St. Barts in the Caribbean. Vogue emphasized her insistence on Gigi wearing swimsuits that cover her arms to shield her from the sun and prevent burns.
She explained, "She won’t get in the pool because I won’t let her wear a bikini. So, every day we have bikini wars. She only wants to wear a bikini. I’m like ‘Gigi, you’re five, you’re wearing swimsuits, you’re not just getting to wear bikinis’." Vogue added, "Because I want her arms and stuff covered up from the sun. So we have full wars…and I mean that girl can hold out."
Podcast Banter and Family Dynamics
In response, co-host Joanne McNally humorously questioned the source of Gigi's stubbornness, joking, "I wonder where that comes from. I wonder where she got the stubborn mule. Stubborn mule in a bikini. Where did that aesthetic come from? That’s mad." This light-hearted exchange underscores the playful yet relatable nature of parenting dilemmas shared on the podcast.
This isn't the first time Vogue has opened up about family life. Earlier this year, she expressed pre-holiday anxieties on another podcast she co-hosts with her sister, Amber Wilson. Speaking on the Amber & Vogue podcast, she voiced fears about the logistics of their trip, including an early morning start and multiple flights.
Travel Fears and Humorous Reassurances
Vogue shared, "Guys, I am scared. So, I'm so scared. Listen, I know that it's like first world problems. We're going on holidays tomorrow, but we're leaving, like, I have to get up at half three in the morning and I'm pushing the kids out. So, I'm going to get the kids up at quarter to four. But I'm absolutely s******g myself. I'm so scared."
Detailing the complex journey, she added, "So we're flying to Paris and we have to fly from Paris to St. Martin, then St. Martin to St. Barts. So, it's like a lot of flights. I'm never usually like that with them, but it's such a full-on day and I'm actually a little bit like scared and I don't feel very well at the moment."
Sisterly Support and Pop Culture References
To lighten the mood, Amber Wilson referenced the film Home Alone 2, saying convivially, "Well, be careful because that's where Kevin McCallister's mum realized that she'd left him at home for the second time when she was in Paris airport." This humorous comment provided a moment of levity amid the travel stress, highlighting the supportive dynamic between the sisters.
Through these podcast revelations, Vogue Williams connects with listeners by sharing authentic, everyday struggles of family life, from sun protection debates to travel anxieties, all while maintaining a humorous and relatable tone.
