The United Arab Emirates has released photographic evidence showing debris and sophisticated electronic components recovered from intercepted Iranian missiles. This follows a new wave of projectiles launched toward the country that were successfully neutralised by advanced air defence systems.
Debris Scattered Across Abu Dhabi Following Interceptions
Official images reveal fragments of the fast-moving projectiles, including exposed wiring and internal guidance components, recovered in Abu Dhabi after the defensive operations. Despite debris falling across several parts of the capital, officials confirmed the missiles were successfully intercepted with no injuries or structural damage reported.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the UAE Ministry of Defense announced their air defence systems 'successfully intercepted a new wave of Iranian missiles launched toward the country.' They emphasised the threat was handled with 'high efficiency,' maintaining that no damage or casualties occurred.
Multiple Locations Affected by Falling Debris
Fragments from the intercepted missiles were reported in several prominent areas including Saadiyat Island, the St. Regis Abu Dhabi, Khalifa City, Beni Yas, Mohamed Bin Zayed City and Al Falah. The ministry confirmed the country will remain on high alert and is fully prepared to respond to any further threats that may emerge.
Regional Tensions Reach Critical Levels
This announcement comes as tensions across the Middle East continue to escalate dramatically following US and Israeli strikes on Iran. The situation has been further complicated by unconfirmed claims that Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been killed during these operations.
In a post on Truth Social, US President Donald Trump stated: 'Khamenei, one of the most evil people in History, is dead. This is not only Justice for the people of Iran, but for all Great Americans, and those people from many Countries throughout the World, that have been killed or mutilated by Khamenei and his gang of bloodthirsty THUGS.'
Trump added that Khamenei 'was unable to avoid our Intelligence and Highly Sophisticated Tracking Systems and, working closely with Israel, there was not a thing he, or the other leaders that have been killed along with him, could do.'
Conflicting Reports Regarding Iranian Leadership
Earlier reports indicated Khamenei's body was discovered under rubble in his compound following US and Israeli airstrikes. According to Israeli officials, both Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu have been shown photographic evidence of his body.
Israel's Channel 12 reported: 'A photo of the body was shown to Netanyahu and Trump.' Meanwhile, public broadcaster Kan stated: 'Senior Israeli officials were informed of Khamenei's elimination. His body was recovered from the rubble of his compound.'
However, there has been no official confirmation of Khamenei's death from Tehran authorities. Iranian state media has consistently denied these claims throughout the developing situation.
Retaliatory Strikes and Regional Fallout
In a televised address on Saturday evening, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that airstrikes in Iran had destroyed the Supreme Leader's compound, adding that 'all indications show this tyrant is no longer with us.'
Meanwhile, retaliatory actions have continued across the region. Four people sustained injuries during an Iranian missile strike targeting the world-famous five-star Fairmont hotel in Dubai.
Dramatic footage and images captured the moment the Palm Jumeirah Fairmont Hotel was struck, with the front of the building set ablaze by an ultra-fast Shahed drone. This attack occurred as Iran carried out retaliatory strikes across the Middle East following the joint US-Israel operation against Tehran earlier in the day.
The UAE remains vigilant as these events unfold, with defence systems actively monitoring for additional threats while regional stability hangs in precarious balance.
