Mum's £5 Waitrose Mystery Bag Worth £18.35

A mother has expressed her surprise after purchasing a mystery Too Good To Go bag from Waitrose for just £5, only to find its contents were worth more than triple that amount. The shopper, who goes by This Mum Cooks online, admitted she does not usually buy bags from that branch as it is slightly out of her way, but decided to give it a try after timing her visit perfectly while picking up her daughter from an event.

Opening the bag, she discovered chestnut mushrooms (worth around £1.50), tomato salsa (£2.15), large mixed bread rolls (£2.15), a chocolate mousse (£1.60), dauphinoise potatoes (£2.60), and cheese and bacon chicken breasts. The total original value came to £18.35, more than three times the £5 she paid.

She commented: 'It's not bad for £5. It's certainly not the best Too Good To Go bag I've ever had, but nothing here will go to waste.' She added: 'That I find quite incredible. I paid just £5 for this and it'll stop it all going to waste as well.'

Reaction on social media was positive, with one user saying: 'I need to free up space in our freezer!' Another added: 'Yes, you can make a family meal from that.' A third said: 'Yes, a very good selection.'
