Trump Proclaims Iran 'Losing Big' as Peace Talks Proceed
United States President Donald Trump has launched a fresh social media offensive, declaring that Iran is "losing big" in the ongoing Middle East conflict. His inflammatory remarks come even as face-to-face peace negotiations involving the United States, Iran, and Pakistan are scheduled to commence this Saturday.
The White House confirmed that delegations from the three nations are set to hold direct meetings, marking a critical juncture in testing the durability of a ceasefire that has already shown signs of strain. This diplomatic effort aims to resolve the protracted Iran war, but Trump's provocative statements threaten to overshadow the fragile peace process.
Provocative Claims on Truth Social
In a lengthy post on Truth Social, President Trump vehemently attacked what he labelled "fake news" media for allegedly portraying Iran as winning the conflict. He asserted, "The Fake News Media has lost total credibility, not that they had any to begin with. Because of their massive Trump Derangement Syndrome (Sometimes referred to as TDS!), they love saying that Iran is 'winning' when, in fact, everyone knows that they are LOSING, and LOSING BIG!"
Trump detailed a litany of Iranian military setbacks, claiming their navy and air force are decimated, anti-aircraft systems nonfunctional, radar disabled, and missile and drone factories largely destroyed. He added, "most importantly, their longtime 'Leaders' are no longer with us, praise be to Allah!" suggesting significant leadership losses within Iran.
Strait of Hormuz and US Energy Benefits
Central to Trump's post was the assertion that the United States will economically benefit from Iran's actions in the Strait of Hormuz. He indicated that Iran has effectively closed this crucial waterway to oil and natural gas tankers, but claimed the U.S. is initiating clearance operations as a "favor" to countries worldwide, including China, Japan, South Korea, France, and Germany.
Trump predicted, "We’re now starting the process of clearing out the Strait of Hormuz... Incredibly, they don’t have the Courage or Will to do this work themselves." He further noted, "Very interestingly, however, empty Oil carrying ships from many Nations are all heading to the United States of America to LOAD UP with Oil." This implies a potential boon for the U.S. energy sector as global shipping reroutes.
The president's comments highlight a strategic focus on maritime security and economic advantage, even as diplomatic channels attempt to de-escalate tensions. The situation remains fluid, with the success of peace talks hanging in the balance amid such volatile rhetoric.
