MAFS Intruder Stephanie Marshall Opens Up About Husband Tyson's Controversial Comments
Stephanie Marshall, the intruder bride on Married At First Sight, has candidly shared her true feelings about her new husband, Tyson Gordon, following their dramatic wedding day. In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, the 32-year-old real estate agent did not mince words after viewing footage of their clash over gender roles, 'woke culture', and his harsh 'frigid' label.
Shock Over Private Remarks and Gender Expectations
Stephanie expressed surprise at Tyson's private comments, particularly when he called her 'frigid' after their photoshoot. "I didn't know what Tyson was saying to cameras," she admitted. "That all came as a little bit of a surprise, him calling me frigid." Despite Tyson branding her 'too masculine' on screen, Stephanie remained unfazed, noting she quickly recognised his traditional views.
"He made it very clear pretty quickly that he very much wanted to be the man, the protector, the provider," she said. Emphasising her independence, Stephanie added, "I've been single for a very long time… I'm very independent. I really don't need a man to protect me and provide for me."
Wedding Day Tensions and Personal Integrity
The couple tied the knot on Monday's episode, where Tyson, a former Australian soldier turned property investor, raised eyebrows by declaring he did not want a 'woke' partner and delivering inflammatory vows. At the altar, he questioned if Stephanie gave off 'woke vibes' and later criticised her career ambition and 'boss' energy, with his father doubting if Tyson wanted a woman with strong career drive.
Stephanie, however, was not shocked by his reaction and refused to change herself to appease him. "It didn't really bother me, to be honest," she said about being called 'masculine'. She joined the experiment seeking a bold change after years of single life, stating, "I always knew that if I was to really pull myself out of my comfort zone, it had to be a bold move."
Red Flags and Emotional Intelligence Concerns
Stephanie revealed that 'red flags' emerged soon after the ceremony, especially when Tyson spoke negatively about his ex-wife. "Even about his ex-wife, he was calling her crazy," she claimed. While tolerant of differing opinions, she criticised Tyson's language, saying, "For me, it's more so the language that we use around them… being a bit more emotionally intelligent… do I actually care about the feelings of others, or do I just not give a f**k?"
She believes Tyson falls into the latter category, contrasting with her own approach. Stephanie also noted a divide among cast members, with some trying to recruit her to their 'team' immediately.
Unexpected Comfort and Future Prospects
In a twist, Stephanie found solace in fellow groom Grayson McIvor, a former colleague. "I found comfort in Grayson," she revealed. "Him and I actually worked together a few years prior. So just to see that familiar face and know that he was in the experiment… I gravitated towards that." She also connected with brides Rachel Gilmore and Alissa Fay, who reassured her before the wedding.
Looking ahead, Stephanie hinted that Tyson's 'bold character' might lead to scrutiny at their first dinner party, depending on how wedding attendees share details. Despite tensions, she remains committed, saying, "I'm staying open-minded, and I'm not being super reactive to the things that he is saying. I'm just listening with caution." However, she acknowledged Tyson's inflexibility, noting, "He's not overly receptive to thinking about things in a way outside of his way… not 'my way or the highway'."
Married At First Sight continues Tuesday at 7.30pm on Channel Nine.
