Jonathan Majors Makes Film Comeback with Conservative Action Movie Co-Produced by Ben Shapiro
Ousted Marvel star Jonathan Majors is set to return to the big screen with a new conservative action film, co-produced by right-wing influencer Ben Shapiro. The actor, who was convicted of assault for an attack on his girlfriend, has been filming in South Carolina for the production companies Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend, according to Deadline reports.
Details of the Secretive Project
Not much is known about the movie, as both production companies are keeping the title, plot, and other cast members tightly under wraps. However, the film is reportedly similar to the 1980s and 1990s classics Red Dawn and Toy Soldiers, both of which feature groups of teenage boys banding together to defeat invading enemies.
Kyle Rankin, who previously produced Run Hide Fight for The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend, is directing the film from his own screenplay. Ben Shapiro is producing for The Daily Wire, while Dallas Sonnier is producing for Bonfire Legend. Other producers include Travis Mills, Lillian Campbell, and Sydney Aucreman.
Social Media Reaction and Career Trajectory
Following the news of Majors' return, Shapiro teased the project on social media, writing, 'You're not going to BELIEVE what we're doing.' However, the announcement sparked mixed reactions online. One X user commented, 'Jonathan Majors was supposed to be the next big star of Hollywood and now he's doing 'Ben Shapiro' and 'The Daily Wire' movies.' Another added, 'This man went from three blockbusters in one year to making a movie with BEN SHAPIRO.'
A third user reflected on his career path, stating, 'In 2020, Jonathan Majors was starring in a Spike Lee film, had an HBO series, and was set to be the focal point of the next phase of MCU movies. This is a generational bag-fumbling that will be talked about for years.'
Majors' Rise and Fall from Marvel
Majors had built a notable career with roles in Creed III and HBO's Lovecraft Country. He was primed to become the next major MCU villain as Kang the Conqueror, following his appearances in the TV series Loki and the 2023 film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
However, after his arrest in March 2023 for assaulting his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari, and subsequent conviction for third-degree reckless assault and harassment, Marvel dropped him from the franchise. In July 2024, at the San Diego Comic Con, the studio announced that Robert Downey Jr. would play Doctor Doom as the villain for the next two Avengers movies, and the planned Avengers: The Kang Dynasty was renamed Avengers: Doomsday.
Days later, Majors expressed his heartbreak over Marvel's new direction to TMZ. When asked if he felt it was unfair compared to opportunities given to Downey Jr. and Ezra Miller, who faced legal issues but continued working, Majors replied, 'I think it's fair that Mr. Downey has been greeted with patience and curiosity and love and that Mr. Miller has gotten the same treatment, and that they're being allowed to work their art. I didn't really get that, so, you know.'
Legal Background and Sentencing
Majors was found guilty of one misdemeanor assault charge and one harassment violation. Jabbari testified that he hit her head with his open hand, twisted her arm behind her back, and squeezed her middle finger until it fractured during a struggle in an SUV. She also described him as controlling and manipulative, with angry outbursts where he would break household items.
In sentencing, Judge Michael Gaffey noted that both sides agreed jail time was not warranted, and Majors had no prior criminal record. He was ordered to complete a yearlong counseling program but avoided jail. In November 2025, Majors and Jabbari settled a civil lawsuit she filed against him, with both parties agreeing to dismiss the litigation.
Personal Life and Future Projects
Majors married actress Meagan Good last year, but they will not be celebrating their first anniversary together as he films in South Carolina. Good told TMZ, 'It's a blessing. It's been a journey, you know, arguable, I mean he's one of the best talents I've ever seen. It's beautiful to see him getting back to doing what he loves and what God's gifted him with, so I'm just thanking God.'
Additionally, Majors is set to star in a supernatural revenge thriller entitled Merciless, directed by Martin Villeneuve, the younger brother of Dune director Denis Villeneuve. The Daily Mail has reached out to Majors' agents, as well as The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend for comment.
