Gaz Beadle Fires Back at Critics Over Geordie Shore Comeback

Gaz Beadle has launched a fierce rebuttal against critics who slammed him for returning to Geordie Shore, seven years after he initially quit the show to focus on fatherhood. The 37-year-old Newcastle-born star, real name Gary Beadle, was approached on TikTok this Monday by a detractor who branded him 'embarrassing' and 'skint' for rejoining the reality series, which was recently filmed in Portugal alongside original cast members Sophie Kasaei and Chloe Ferry.

Defending His Career Move

In his response, the father-of-two drew parallels with high-profile footballers who have transitioned into media roles. He stated, 'Is Thierry Henry skint because he does football punditry or Micah Richards doing TV commercials? It's a job. If they wanna pay me to go on holiday with my mates for a few weeks for money, you better believe I'm doing it. More money in the pot.' Gaz emphasized that his return was a calculated decision, telling The Sun that he had extensive discussions with producers to ensure it was the right fit for his current lifestyle.

A Changed Approach to the Show

Reflecting on his comeback, Gaz highlighted how his priorities have shifted since his early days on the program. He explained, 'I'm not going on there getting smashed every night, because I don't do that in real life so I'm not gonna do it there.' He added that as his children have grown older and he learned about the show's evolution, he felt more comfortable returning. Gaz first rose to fame on the inaugural series of Geordie Shore in 2011, remaining a central figure until 2017, with a brief appearance on the spin-off Geordie OGs in 2019.

Personal Life and Past Controversies

His tenure on the show was famously marked by his tumultuous romance with Charlotte Crosby, which faced challenges due to his infidelity and his absence during her ectopic pregnancy in 2016 while he filmed Ex On The Beach in Thailand. Gaz ultimately left the series after discovering his then-girlfriend Emma McVey was pregnant with their first child. The couple, who share son Chester, seven, and daughter Primrose, four, married in July 2021 but sadly split two years later. Gaz is now in a relationship with 24-year-old nurse Maia Ellen, whom he praises as 'inspirational' for supporting him through his divorce.

Contrasting Eras and Future Outlook

Given his current romance, Gaz's return to Geordie Shore is expected to starkly contrast with his earlier years, when he was known for wild antics and multiple flings on a show centered around bedding, boozing, and brawling. Looking back at his initial departure, he recalled, 'I got the show when I was 21 and left when I was 30 so that's 10 years of my life with people filming me... And when lockdown happened I was like, 'Can I just have two or three years please? Of no one following my life or filming me'.' He admitted to initially resisting reunion offers, feeling content without the spotlight, but ultimately decided to embrace this new chapter in his entertainment career.
