EasyJet Urges Passengers to Complete Two Key Travel Checks
EasyJet: Two Essential Travel Checks Before Flying

EasyJet has issued essential advice for passengers with upcoming flights and holidays, urging them to complete two key checks before travel. The airline emphasizes the importance of safety and preparation as the summer holiday season begins.

Comprehensive Travel Insurance

First, easyJet strongly recommends that all passengers take out comprehensive travel insurance at the time of booking. The airline states: "We cannot stress enough how important it is to take out comprehensive travel insurance at the time of booking, to cover you in the event that something stops you going on holiday and of course while you’re away too."

Passengers should ensure the policy covers any activities or sports they plan to participate in. The cost of international healthcare can be significant, and insurance not only covers these costs but also provides support to get the best care and arrange repatriation if needed.

EasyJet advises travelers to take a copy of their policy and save the emergency assistance contact number in their mobile phone. The airline notes that a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) only covers basic state medical care in participating countries and does not cover repatriation. Travelers can apply for a GHIC on the NHS website.

Share Travel Details

Secondly, easyJet tells passengers to share their travel details with someone they trust. "Leave a copy of your travel details with your next of kin or an emergency contact," the airline advises.

The UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) allows holidaymakers to access necessary state healthcare in the European Economic Area (EEA) and some other countries on the same basis as a local resident. This may be free or require a payment equivalent to what a local would pay. The GHIC has replaced the EHIC; existing EHICs remain valid until their expiry date, after which travelers should apply for a UK GHIC. The NHS states that UK residents can apply for a GHIC free of charge and include family members in the application.
