Comedian Alan Carr has moved the nation by donating his entire £87,500 prize pot from winning Celebrity Traitors to Neuroblastoma UK, a children's cancer charity close to his heart.
A Triumphant Victory for a Vital Cause
After being crowned the winner in a tense finale of the BBC's Celebrity Traitors on Thursday, 6th November 2025, Carr immediately directed his substantial winnings to the charity for which he has served as a dedicated Patron since 2016. The emotional final saw Carr break down in tears after revealing his identity as a Traitor to fellow contestants Nick Mohammed and David Olusoga.
Neuroblastoma UK was quick to express its profound gratitude, posting a heartfelt message on its social media channels. The charity praised Carr for his "commitment, compassion and drive," describing the comedian as "generous, warm, empathetic and unfalteringly kind."
A Deep-Seated Commitment to Fighting Neuroblastoma
The charity's message highlighted the significance of the donation, stating, "As a small charity with a big mission, you know how much this means to us." They promised Carr they would "do you proud" with the funds.
Speaking on the visual podcast Uncloaked, Carr explained the emotional weight of his victory. "The charity is so close to my heart that it all became a bit too much," he confessed. He also revealed that he had informed one person at the charity beforehand, who was moved to tears, underscoring the critical importance of the financial boost.
Neuroblastoma is a rare and aggressive cancer that develops in early nerve cells and predominantly affects children under the age of five. Carr became the first patron for Neuroblastoma UK—founded in 1982 as The Neuroblastoma Society—after meeting parents of children battling the disease.
Transforming Donations into Hope and Lives Saved
Carr emphasised the life-saving potential of the money, stating, "Neuroblastoma is such a cruel disease, and this money will literally save lives." He also expressed hope that the show's high viewing figures would raise the profile of the little-known illness, bringing further awareness and support.
The charity has hailed Carr as "a passionate, dedicated ambassador" whose efforts over his nine-year tenure have been "transformational." This monumental donation marks one of the most significant contributions in the charity's history, promising to fund vital research and support for families facing this devastating diagnosis.
