Radio presenter Adele Roberts has bravely revealed she faced another cancer scare this week, undergoing surgery to remove a concerning lump from her neck that had been worrying her since summer.
Emotional Health Update
The 46-year-old broadcaster, who was originally diagnosed with bowel cancer in October 2021, shared the news on Instagram alongside photos showing her surgical scar behind the ear. Roberts documented her entire cancer journey publicly, including colostomy surgery to remove a bowel tumour and adapting to life with a stoma bag she named Audrey.
In her heartfelt post, she wrote: "THANK YOU NHS. What a week so far - it's only Wednesday and I've already had a camera up my bum, an enema and some test results that I've been worried about since summer."
She explained the anxiety she'd been experiencing: "At the start of summer I got a concerning lump on my neck which wouldn't go away and then it grew into a bit of a monster. Nobody knew what it was and it wasn't responding to treatment."
Waiting Game and Positive Outlook
Roberts had been waiting since the end of August for the lump's removal, using marathon training as a coping mechanism during what she described as a "worrying time." She was placed on the waiting list just before participating in the Sydney Marathon.
The broadcaster maintained her characteristic positivity, describing her new scar as "my newest piece of body art" and referencing the Japanese concept of Kintsugi, which celebrates imperfection and treats healing as essential to human experience.
In welcome news, Roberts revealed that tests confirmed the lump was benign, writing excitedly: "I'M ABSOLUTELY BUZZING! THANK YOU UNIVERSE!!!"
Ongoing Health Monitoring
Despite the positive outcome regarding her neck lump, Roberts faces further medical procedures. Her recent endoscopy proved inconclusive because the enema didn't work effectively enough, meaning she'll need to return for another attempt soon.
The Dancing On Ice star concluded her post with an important health message: "If you're reading this & you're worried about ANYTHING please speak to someone. Early detection saves lives."
Fans and famous friends flooded the comments with support, including fellow presenter Zoe Ball who praised Roberts for "making all these conversations and experiences that can be so scary the norm." Her former Dancing On Ice partner Mark Hanretty added: "Grateful you share the highs and lows of life and confident that your openness will help so many others."
Roberts continues to inspire through her health advocacy and remarkable athletic achievements, having recently become the fastest woman in history to complete the world's six major marathons with a stoma bag.
