Netflix has announced the cast for its next Harlan Coben adaptation, 'Run Away', with James Nesbitt and Ruth Jones leading the ensemble. The series, based on Coben's 2019 novel, follows Simon, a man whose seemingly perfect life unravels when his eldest daughter Paige runs away. When he finds her in a city park, vulnerable and addicted to drugs, his attempt to bring her home plunges him into a dangerous underworld.
Nesbitt, known for 'The Missing' and 'Cold Feet', plays Simon. Coben praised his casting, saying, 'Jimmy just has so much range. He's so natural and authentic at all times.' Ruth Jones, of 'Gavin & Stacey' fame, portrays Elena Ravenscroft, while Minnie Driver plays Simon's wife Ingrid. Alfred Enoch, from 'The Couple Next Door', appears as Isaac Fagbenle.
Filming begins this month in Manchester, continuing Coben's commitment to setting his Netflix adaptations in the north of England. 'What's wonderful about the north of England is there's such variety,' Coben said. 'There's a combination of everyday and eccentric about the settings there.'
The eight-episode series is expected to follow the pattern of previous Coben adaptations, likely premiering on 1st January 2026. Other cast members include Tracy-Ann Oberman, Lucian Msamati, Ingrid Oliver, and Ellie de Lange.
