Celtic clinched the Scottish Premiership title in dramatic fashion on the final day, scoring twice in the closing minutes to snatch victory from Hearts, who had come within touching distance of a first domestic championship since 1960.
Hearts, needing only a draw, frustrated Celtic and took the lead in the 43rd minute when captain Lawrence Shankland headed in from a corner. Their hopes were dealt a blow six minutes later when Alexandros Kyziridis was penalised for handball, allowing Arne Engels to level from the penalty spot.
Celtic pushed relentlessly after the break, with Kelechi Iheanacho striking the post and Engels going close from a free-kick. As the pressure mounted, Daizen Maeda found the net in the 87th minute, though the goal was initially flagged for offside before being allowed.
With time running out, Hearts threw goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow forward for a corner, but Celtic cleared and broke away, with Callum Osmand scoring a third to seal the title. Jubilant home fans invaded the pitch, forcing players off and causing a brief delay before the final whistle.
For Hearts, it was a heartbreaking end to a remarkable campaign, as they fell just short of becoming the first team outside Glasgow to win the title since 1985. For Celtic and manager Martin O'Neill, the victory will live long in the memory.
