Gordon Ramsay has opened up about his daily eating habits after shedding three stone, revealing a disciplined approach to food that includes protein shakes, scrambled eggs, and poached meals. The celebrity chef, now 59, maintains a strict regimen to stay in peak physical condition for endurance events like marathons and Iron Man competitions.
In an interview with Men's Health, Ramsay explained: "Good food doesn't have to be boring food, and healthy food never has to be fad food. I love eating. We have a protein shake in the morning, scrambled eggs for lunch, and then something poached for dinner, whether it's poached chicken or fish." He emphasised the importance of balance over restrictive diets.
To avoid overindulging, Ramsay employs a self-imposed rule of eating only two mouthfuls of rich dishes. "I'll eat two mouthfuls of a delicious dish and then ignore it, and it's painful," he said. "It's the discipline that drives me, the discipline of saying 'two mouthfuls, then get out of there'."
Ramsay's fitness journey began in his early thirties, but he credits turning 40 as a pivotal moment. Realising he was overweight and consumed by work, he committed to completing an Iron Man—a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile cycle, and 26.2-mile run. "It made me more disciplined," he said. "Clawing that time back was crucial."
