Crispy Frozen Chips in Just 10 Minutes: Simple Microwave Trick

Frozen chips can be a quick and convenient side dish, but they often turn out limp and soggy, even after extended oven time. Cooking experts have now revealed a simple trick to achieve perfectly crispy chips in just 10 minutes.

The food experts at Simply Recipes recommend partially defrosting the chips in the microwave before oven baking. Adriana Chavez explained that frozen chips can take nearly half an hour to cook in the oven, but a quick microwave blast dramatically reduces cooking time while delivering a superior crunch.

To try the method, preheat the oven according to packet directions. Place the frozen chips in a bowl or on a plate and microwave for around 90 seconds. This partially defrosts them and removes some moisture, prepping them for the oven. Then arrange the chips on a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper and bake for just 10 minutes. They should come out golden brown and delightfully crunchy.

For extra flavour, season the chips immediately after baking with salt, garlic powder, or paprika. This clever step ensures your chips are ready in a fraction of the usual time, without sacrificing texture or taste.
