The critically acclaimed medical drama The Pitt will finally be available to stream in the UK from Thursday 26 March 2026, when HBO Max launches in the country. The first season will be available in full from that date, with season 2 episodes debuting weekly from Thursday 2 April.
Created by R Scott Gemmill (ER, NCIS: Los Angeles), the series stars Noah Wyle as Dr Robby, an attending physician at a Pittsburgh trauma hospital. Each season follows a single 15-hour shift in near real-time, with each episode covering one hour.
The show has been praised for its realistic portrayal of healthcare workers and has been a major awards contender in the US, but UK viewers have been unable to watch it until now. The UK launch is part of HBO Max's expansion into several European countries, including Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Liechtenstein.
Speaking about the show's origins, Gemmill said he initially had no interest in making another hospital drama, but changed his mind during the pandemic. Producer Wells added that conversations with doctors highlighted significant problems in urban medical settings, which the series aims to address.
Noah Wyle described the show's canvas as exploring whether 15 hours is enough time to fall in love, find faith, or recognise one's calling, while keeping events grounded in plausibility.
