Comedian Jason Manford has sent the internet into a frenzy after appearing to hint that his wife, Lucy Dyke, is expecting their third child together, which would be his seventh child overall.
The Cryptic Instagram Hint
The 44-year-old funnyman shared a puzzling snapshot on Instagram this Sunday. The photo showed him sitting in what looked like a hospital waiting room, directly beneath a picture of an ultrasound scan. Rolling his eyes for the camera, Manford captioned the post with the simple, yet loaded, phrase: 'Here we go again'.
This ambiguous post immediately prompted a flood of questions from his followers, who were left wondering if the comedian was making a joke or genuinely announcing another addition to his already large family.
A History of Family and a Past Vasectomy
The post is particularly intriguing given Manford's previous statements about his family being complete. In 2023, during an appearance on Loose Women, he explicitly ruled out having more children and revealed he had undergone a vasectomy, a permanent form of male contraception.
When questioned on the show about expanding his family further, he quipped: ‘It would be a medical impossibility, shall we say?’ He added, ‘I did the respectable thing, eventually, and had the snip.’
Manford is already a father to six children. He shares his two youngest daughters with his current wife, TV producer Lucy Dyke. With his ex-wife Catherine, from whom he split in 2013, he shares four older children: 15-year-old twin girls, a 12-year-old daughter, and a ten-year-old son.
Fan Reaction and Past Comments
Fans were quick to react in the comments section of his Instagram post, with a mix of confusion and congratulations. Comments ranged from 'Or are you actually ???!' and 'Is that 7?' to 'Wow congratulations' and jokes about the size of car he would need to fit everyone in.
This is not the first time Manford has discussed the challenges and joys of his large brood. He previously told the Daily Mail that he needed a 'spreadsheet' to organise his six children. He also revealed his secret to managing a big family, explaining that after a certain point, the children begin to look after each other.
Despite having flown solo with all six children on a long-haul flight, which he described as 'a bit mad' but not as hard as people imagine, he was adamant that his family was complete. 'I wouldn't have anymore, absolutely not. 100 per cent no,' he stated. He even noted that holding his newborn nephew made him realise he didn't miss the baby stage.
Representatives for Jason Manford have been contacted by the Daily Mail for comment regarding the recent social media post.
