Conjoined twins Abby and Brittany Hensel have been photographed with a newborn baby, fuelling speculation that they have expanded their family. The 35-year-old sisters were seen placing the infant in a car seat and securing it in a vehicle in Arden Hills, Minnesota.
The sighting follows rumours from last year that the twins were expecting a child. Neither Abby nor Brittany has confirmed whether the baby is theirs, and the former reality TV stars now prefer to keep a low profile.
Abby and Brittany rose to fame after appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1996 at age six. They later starred in their own TLC reality series, Abby & Brittany, which documented their lives after college. Abby married Joshua Bowling in 2021 and became stepmother to his daughter Isabella.
The twins are dicephalic parapagus conjoined, sharing a torso and a pair of legs. Abby controls the right arm and leg, while Brittany controls the left. They have separate hearts, brains, and spinal cords, but share a circulatory system and reproductive organs.
In a recent TikTok video, a molecular biologist explained their anatomy, noting the blend of shared and individual organs. The twins have previously spoken about the coordination required for daily tasks, including driving, where both must steer but Abby operates the pedals.
