Vogue Williams Reveals Martin Kemp Was 'Exempt' from I'm a Celeb Trials
Vogue Williams: Martin Kemp was 'exempt' from I'm a Celeb trials

Former I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! contestant Vogue Williams has shed light on the notable absence of Martin Kemp from several of the show's gruelling challenges, stating the Spandau Ballet star was largely "exempt".

Williams Confirms Kemp's Exemption Status

Williams, the 40-year-old Irish media personality who was voted out of the jungle on Monday 1 December, took to Instagram Live following her elimination to answer questions from fans. She addressed the growing speculation around Kemp's participation, which had even been questioned by his son, former campmate Roman Kemp.

"Martin did want to do the trials, but Martin was exempt from some," Williams claimed during the session. She suggested that everyone in camp was unusually eager to participate this series, but that Kemp, being quieter, was happy to let others step forward. She was full of praise for the musician, calling him "sound" and "really, really lovely."

Roman Kemp's Public Query

The discussion around Martin Kemp's trial record was fuelled publicly by his son, Roman. On Tuesday 2 December, Roman took to X, formerly Twitter, to pose a pointed question to viewers: "Genuine question, is my dad the only one to have not done an actual trial?"

So far in the series, the 63-year-old has taken part in four Bushtucker Trials. However, producers have historically ruled contestants out of certain tasks based on factors like age and medical history, a point that may explain his apparent immunity from the more physically demanding ordeals.

Williams' Jungle Injury Explained

Elsewhere in the candid Instagram Live, Williams also clarified the mystery behind a knee bandage that had puzzled viewers during her time in the jungle. She revealed the injury was self-inflicted during a camp-made game.

"My knee, it's so annoying and it's so stupid and it's completely my fault," she admitted. Williams explained that contestants were timing themselves crossing bouncy jungle bridges for fun. "I ran to cross the bridge and I fell and completely busted my knee," she said.

The medic was called immediately as she was on her way to a trial, patched her up, and she proceeded to compete. Williams expressed hope that the "really stingy" cut would not leave a permanent scar.

Following Williams' exit, Kelly Brook and Ruby Wax have also been eliminated from the ITV reality show, which continues nightly at 9pm.
