Singer Jess Glynne has shared heartbreaking personal news following her girlfriend Alex Scott's early exit from I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, revealing her absence from the traditional bridge greeting was due to her mother suffering a major stroke and undergoing brain surgery.

Family Crisis Behind The Scenes

The Hold My Hand singer, 36, took to Instagram just an hour after football pundit Alex, 41, became the first contestant voted off the ITV reality show on Friday night. While fans expected to see Jess waiting at the end of the iconic bridge, Alex was instead greeted by friend Regan Coleman.

Jess explained this wasn't by choice, writing: "I know people will wonder why I wasn't there at the end of the bridge, so I wanted to share something personal." She revealed that over the past few weeks, her mother experienced a major stroke requiring urgent brain surgery, describing it as a "really serious, life-altering time for my family."

The singer emphasised that she'd needed to stay close to home during this family medical emergency, adding that Alex "would always want me to be where I'm needed most."

Alex Scott's Jungle Experience

Meanwhile, Alex Scott faced her own challenges in the jungle before becoming the first celebrity eliminated. Speaking to hosts Ant and Dec after her exit, the former Lioness described the experience as "incredible" though mentally tough.

She showed no disappointment about her early departure, instead focusing on the positive bonds formed with campmates. "The laughter we have had and we really connected and making the bonds that we did," she reflected.

The Football Focus presenter found herself at the centre of controversy earlier in the series after smuggling salt into camp in her sock, resulting in the whole camp losing a star. She laughed about the incident during her exit interview, explaining: "I don't know how many I took in, I just put them in my sock."

Reaction and Support

Jess Glynne didn't just address her absence but also expressed disappointment about her girlfriend's portrayal on the show. She wrote: "My woman might be out far earlier than she ever deserved, but I'm so unbelievably proud of her. She didn't get the airtime to show how incredible she really is and trust me, this is only the beginning."

Fans quickly took to social media to express surprise at Alex's early elimination, with many describing the outcome as "sad" and unexpected. One viewer commented: "Alex Scott being the first person to leave I'm A Celebrity is so sad."

Before leaving camp for the final time, Alex revealed she was backing fellow contestant Shona to win the series, believing victory would "give her the confidence." She also couldn't resist a final jungle confession, blaming a national treasure for repeatedly leaving the toilet seat up in the notoriously smelly camp toilet.

Despite the challenges both women have faced recently, Jess ended her emotional Instagram post on a hopeful note, writing: "I can't wait to have her back by my side," signalling their reunion following Alex's return from Australia.
