JoJo Siwa Hospitalised with Burst Ovarian Cyst

Former Dance Moms star JoJo Siwa has shared a frightening health scare that saw her rushed to hospital just hours before a scheduled performance, revealing she suffered from a burst ovarian cyst that left her in excruciating pain and struggling to breathe.

Emergency Hospital Dash

The 22-year-old entertainer took to TikTok on Saturday to detail the medical emergency that unfolded on Friday, describing symptoms so severe she needed her mother's help to get dressed before emergency services transported her to hospital. Siwa revealed she experienced unable to breathe episodes and came close to blacking out from the intensity of the pain.

In her lengthy social media post, Siwa recounted telling medical staff: "We said [to doctors] look, obviously if something is like we, we need emergency surgery wrong or something like, obviously there are other options, but there are a lot of people at the Mall Of America waiting and counting on this performance."

Medical Diagnosis and Treatment

After receiving pain relief medication that had her "dancing in her hospital bed", doctors conducted an ultrasound that revealed the true cause of her suffering - a burst ovarian cyst that was bleeding into her stomach. Medical professionals assured the performer that the situation would likely resolve itself without surgical intervention.

Despite the traumatic experience, Siwa demonstrated remarkable professionalism by proceeding with her scheduled performance at the Minnesota shopping centre. She treated fans to an energetic show featuring multiple hits, including her new festive single, a cover of Message To The World (Little Drummer Girl).

Recovery and Future Plans

The celebrity acknowledged she wasn't at 100% capacity during the performance and would need to return to hospital if her pain persisted. She expressed gratitude to medical staff in her post caption: "Thank you for all the well wishes, grateful for the Doctors and Nurses for working so fast and helping me get back on time, keep it pushing."

According to NHS information, an ovarian cyst is a fluid-filled sac that develops on a woman's ovary. These are very common and typically don't cause symptoms, with most occurring naturally and disappearing within months without treatment.

The health scare comes during a busy period for Siwa, who recently announced she'll be spending Christmas in the UK with boyfriend Chris Hughes. The Love Island star, 32, has become increasingly integrated into Siwa's family, with his parents even attending her recent Birmingham concert where she referred to them as her "future in-laws."
