Animal rights organisation PETA has unleashed its most graphic Christmas campaign to date for 2025, exclusively revealed to the Daily Mail. The two-minute cinematic piece transforms a traditional British Christmas dinner into a horrifying spectacle of bloodshed.
A Festive Scene Turns Nightmarish
The advert opens on a seemingly perfect Christmas scene. A typical British family gathers around a festively decorated table, passing platters of food and pouring drinks while making cheerful conversation about traffic and presents. The atmosphere is warm and convivial as they begin to eat their turkey and ham.
Suddenly, the scene erupts into chaos. As the family tucks into their meal, a torrent of blood splatters across their faces and the dining table, turning the celebratory feast into a visceral nightmare. The clip concludes with the blood-soaked family making a toast, accompanied by the stark message: 'This Christmas, over 180 million animals will be slaughtered in the UK. Happy Christmassacre.'
PETA's Call for a Compassionate Christmas
PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is using this provocative film to urge Britons to spare animals this Christmas 'and beyond' by adopting a vegan lifestyle. The chilling advertisement is scheduled to run in cinemas across the nation throughout December.
Elisa Allen, PETA's Vice President of Programmes, stated: 'Behind every trussed-up turkey, holiday ham or beef Wellington was an individual who felt pain and fear and didn't want to die. PETA urges everyone to choose compassion over carnage this Christmas by tucking into a savoury vegan roast.'
The non-profit organisation highlights the sentient nature of farm animals, pointing out that pigs are soothed by music, cows form deep friendships, and turkeys are doting parents. They contrast this with the reality of the meat industry, where animals are 'raised in filthy, crowded conditions, trucked to slaughterhouses through all weather extremes, and violently killed'.
A History of Provocative Christmas Campaigns
This marks PETA's fourth consecutive Christmas advert, continuing their tradition of hard-hitting seasonal messaging. The 2024 campaign featured a young girl who befriended a cow named Kiwi, only to discover her companion had been taken for slaughter when Christmas arrived.
Their inaugural 2022 Christmas advert told the heartwarming story of Toby, a baby turkey who escapes an abattoir-bound lorry and is rescued to become a beloved companion animal instead of Christmas dinner.
In a notable detail, PETA confirmed that although the food in the 2025 advert appears to be real meat, all products used were entirely vegan. The organisation's website promotes various festive meat-free alternatives, including a 'no gammon' joint and a chestnut and thyme plant-based turkey.
PETA also emphasises the additional benefits of veganism, stating that each person who goes vegan 'dramatically shrinks their food-related carbon footprint and slashes their risk of developing cancer, heart disease, and other ailments'. The number of vegans in the UK has skyrocketed in recent years, with recent research estimating around 2.5 million people now follow a fully plant-based diet.
