William and Kate Release Unseen Photo for Princess Charlotte's 11th Birthday
William and Kate Share New Photo for Charlotte's 11th Birthday

To mark Princess Charlotte's 11th birthday, the Prince and Princess of Wales have released a previously unseen photograph of the young royal. The portrait captures Charlotte standing in a field of flowers, beaming at the camera. She is dressed in jeans and a striped sweater, with her long hair flowing freely and her nails painted blue. The accompanying caption reads: "Wishing Charlotte a very happy 11th birthday!" along with a cake emoji.

Charlotte was last seen publicly on Easter Sunday, attending the traditional church service at St George's Chapel in Windsor with her brothers, parents, the King, and the Queen.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond commented on the portrait, noting that Charlotte appears "happy, content, and confident"—traits she believes the princess inherited from her mother, Kate. Bond told the Mirror: "I think confidence in any child is born of a happy and stable home life. And that is precisely what William and Catherine have worked so hard at achieving for their children." She added that at the recent Easter outing, Charlotte was the most at ease in front of cameras and crowds, offering a little wave. "Like her mother, she seems effortlessly elegant and shows every sign of being tall and slim, just like Catherine."

Bond also highlighted Charlotte's athleticism, noting her interest in activities from tap dancing to tennis, hurdles to horse riding. She described Charlotte as "living proof that the Prince and Princess are entirely justified in prioritising their family." The royal expert suggested that William and Kate have faced criticism for ring-fencing school holidays and being present for their children, but that this approach is making a crucial difference. "In recent decades, the royals have, with some justification, been labelled one of the most dysfunctional families in the land," Bond said. "And that needs to change."

Regarding Charlotte's future, Bond believes a full-time royal role may await her given the dwindling number of working royals, but she added that her parents likely will not insist if it is not what Charlotte wants. "This is a new era and one which, I think, will afford some of the young Royals a little more choice. That, I think, is only fair."
