ITVX Adds 'Woke' Warnings to Vicky McClure's Trigger Point Drama
Trigger Point Slapped with 'Woke' Warnings by ITV

Popular ITV drama Trigger Point has found itself at the centre of a new controversy, after the broadcaster's streaming service added a series of content warnings to multiple episodes. The show, starring Vicky McClure as bomb disposal expert Lana Washington, is now flagged for themes including peril, threats, and graphic scenes.

What Do the New Warnings Say?

Viewers logging onto ITVX to watch the high-octane series will now see guidance stating that episodes contain 'themes of peril and threats'. The warnings also explicitly note 'Graphic scenes of injury and death' and 'Frequent strong language'.

Most notably, the finale of the first series, which revolves around a bomb plot, has reportedly been given a specific flag for 'terrorist danger'. These warnings have been applied retrospectively to the series, which first debuted in 2022 and has been a firm favourite with audiences since.

Backlash and a 'Bleedin' Obvious' Reaction

The decision by ITV bosses has sparked criticism from free speech advocates. Lord Toby Young of the Free Speech Union spoke to The Sun, branding the move as stating the obvious. 'Talk about stating the bleedin' obvious,' he said. 'It's not called Trigger the Wonder Horse, is it?'

The debate over content warnings comes as the show prepares for a major return. ITV has confirmed that Trigger Point will be back for a third series, with a nail-biting trailer released in October previewing more explosive action on the streets of London.

Series Three Details and Royal Approval

The new series, which finished filming earlier this autumn, is set to premiere on October 26. The synopsis teases that Lana and her team will investigate a sinister vendetta in London, working with the Police Counterterrorism Unit. The cast welcomes new addition Jason Flemyng as Steven Wyles, alongside returning favourites.

The drama's prestige was underscored earlier this year when Queen Camilla visited the set as part of ITV's 70th-anniversary celebrations. The Queen, who revealed herself to be a fan, was shown the heavy bomb disposal suit worn by McClure's character, exclaiming 'Blimey!' at its weight.

The show's second series was a major success, averaging 8.1 million live viewers and being streamed a staggering 30 million times on ITVX. Despite the new warnings, fans are eagerly awaiting the return of one of ITV's most explosive dramas.
