BBC viewers have expressed their disappointment after Saturday Kitchen aired yet another pre-recorded episode, with many complaining the show 'isn't the same' without its live format.
The episode on 30 August featured chefs Dr Saliha Mahmood-Ahmed, Elliott Grover, and Ben Lippett alongside host Matt Tebbutt, with best-selling author Adam Kay as the celebrity guest. Instead of the usual public vote for the 'Heaven or Hell' food segment, Kay was asked to choose between two syringes, one containing blue liquid, to determine his dish.
Fans took to social media to voice their frustration. One viewer on X wrote: 'There's a recording of #SaturdayKitchen today. I miss the live ones, and I'm still hoping for another "quim" moment!' Another said: 'I hope #SaturdayKitchen will be live next week. The pre-recorded shows don't have the same energy and unpredictability.'
Some viewers even switched channels mid-show, with one posting: 'Rick's [Stein] slot finished, off to watch James Martin. #SaturdayKitchen.'
Despite the backlash, Matt Tebbutt confirmed at the end of the programme that the show will return to its usual live format next week. He announced: 'I'll be back here live next week with Samin Nosrat, Mike Reid and Alan Davies.'
Saturday Kitchen airs every Saturday from 10am on BBC One.
